SHOT 1
ORIGINAL BACKGROUND - Original plate with no edits.
ANIMATION + BASIC LIGHTING - Metal objects are pulled towards the center, so I wanted to show the force from the magnetic pull. Art direction wanted to use blue lighting to show the energy of the device.
EFFECTS + FINESSE - Added bullet sparks and the main light that the device is emitting. As the bullet hits the main device, the blue light shuts off and smoke shoots out from within.
SHOT 2
ORIGINAL BACKGROUND + CHARACTER ANIMATION - Original plate with the character moving out of frame.
INITIAL EXPLOSION EFECT - Using stock footages I wanted to get a mixture of gas explosion and futuristic energy blast.
LIGHTING - Using optical flares I wanted to light the source of explosion and how it would affect the surrounding area.
DUST/ENERGY EFFECTS - Dust and wave of energy coming towards the camera was added to give more depth. Also there are gravitational push and pull from the source to hint at how the magnetic device is going haywire.
3D CAMERA - Layering each group to give more depth and adding a 3D camera for a dramatic zoom.
FOREGROUND + FINESSE - Putting the character back and adding debris in the foreground to give more depth. Subtle camera shake was added as well to add impact. At the end of video you can see how each group was layered in 3D space.

Character rigged and animated in After Effects; From subtle head shifts, facial controls, body shifts, and ability to switch to any other drawings, we are able to animate to achieve what each shot requires

All assets were were provided from each department, and character animation and compositing were done in After Effects
